Nausea, reflux and feeling overly full are the most common reasons people abandon GLP-1 medication before it has had a chance to work. The good news: the vast majority of it is driven by how and what you eat, which means it's largely fixable.
What helps
Smaller, more frequent meals beat three big ones. Eat slowly and stop at comfortably-full, not stuffed. Favour drier, plainer foods when you're queasy — wholegrain toast, crackers, rice, lean protein. Stay hydrated between meals rather than drinking a lot with them. Cool or room-temperature foods often sit better than hot, strong-smelling ones.
What to go easy on
Greasy, fried and very rich meals are the biggest triggers, followed by large portions, fizzy drinks and alcohol. Very sugary foods can also worsen that heavy, sluggish feeling.
If nausea is stopping you eating enough protein, that's a problem worth solving quickly — it's exactly the kind of thing we troubleshoot together on the daily check-ins.
